Meridian Project Systems Announces Prolog Pocket for Palm OS® Handhelds

(WASHINGTON, DC, June 5, 2000)--A new handheld solution for design and construction professionals, called Prolog Pocket for Palm OS® platform is now available through Meridian Project Systems (MPS). MPS recently partnered with Onsyss® Mobile Computing, an information systems consulting firm, to customize the Prolog software for Palm OS® handhelds, which comprise the largest market share among handheld PC units.

This is the first Palm® product of its kind to feature daily work journals that tracks man-hours, which is essential when working in the field. Using the new Prolog Pocket for Palm® handheld, architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) professionals will have access to all features in the Field Documentation module of Prolog Manager, including daily work journals, punch lists and data entry options. Prolog Pocket for the Palm makes the field data entry process quick, simple and transferable. The handheld program can also be synchronized with a desktop PC to upload information collected in the field into the Prolog Manager database for additional reporting capabilities. In future releases it will be possible to download information from Prolog Manager into the Palm handheld for timely and accurate mobile information.

“The availability of Prolog Pocket for the Palm OS platform will make utilizing a handheld solution in the field much more convenient,” said John Bodrozic, President and co-founder of MPS. “The daily work journal feature is especially beneficial and we know that Palm products are widely used.”

As with MPS’s current Prolog Pocket solution for Windows CE, Prolog Pocket for the Palm OS handheld allows users to collect data such as inspections and tests, material deliveries, safety notices, punch lists and notices to comply. It is an ideal project management tool for superintendents, inspectors, safety coordinators, architects and engineers who spend a lot of time in the field.

“Prolog Pocket for Palm OS handhelds will extend the power of Prolog 6.0 into the field where construction employees can be the most productive,” said John Cannito, Chief Information Officer at Onsyss. “Superintendents and field engineers will now be able to spend more of their time in the field focusing on projects and less time in the trailer sitting in front of a computer screen. ”
